Project management is a multifaceted discipline that requires a unique combination of skills, including planning, resource allocation, and risk management. The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a globally recognized credential that validates the holder’s project management abilities.

PMP Certification

Offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the PMP certification is considered the gold standard in project management. The certification demonstrates an individual’s competence in leading and directing project teams. 1 To qualify for the PMP certification, you need a four-year degree, three years of project management experience, and 35 hours of project management education. Alternatively, a high school diploma, five years of project management experience, and the same 35 hours of education can qualify you.

The PMP exam is a rigorous test of your ability to apply project management knowledge in real-world situations. The exam covers five process groups: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Once certified, you need to earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years to maintain your certification.
